the takahashi family
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,100%,true] female | 35+ yrs | widow | mother | poorHaving been raised by low-class fishermen in a costal village far removed from large cities and wealthy neighborhoods, _____ didn't realize that there was an enormous economic disparity between the wealthy and impoverished until she was well into her teens and considering marriage. All things considered, she managed to live a relatively happy life with the situation she was given, and tried not to yearn for the privilege and prosperity of those wealthier than herself. She married a fisherman in the town she had been raised, and gave birth to his daughter in her early twenties. He, unfortunately, died out at sea before their child was even old enough to speak. _____ raised their daughter on her own, selling whatever she could make -- clothes, carvings, simple furniture, herbal medicines -- to support them.
A few years ago, she saw some of the fishermen pulling what seemed to be a boy not much older than her daughter out of the ocean. He was unconscious, parched and starving, beaten and bruised, and had no clothes to speak of. She took him into her home and nursed the boy back to health, soon discovering that he couldn't remember anything about his life before waking up in her home. She had intended on taking him back to his family, but if he didn't even know who they were then the chances of her finding them were slim to none. Not having many options left and refusing to condemn the boy to the streets, she took him in as her own son, naming him Kaimu -- ocean dream. female | 15-16 yrs | former prostitute | sister | aids_____ grew up as an only child who never knew her father. She would often go to the city with her mother to sell some of the fishermens' catch, and therefore realized that they were poor from a very early age. She envied the wealthy and, to an extent, hated them. As a child, she didn't understand why people who had money didn't give some of it to people who didn't. As a young teenager, she discovered that some would give it away... but at a price. She sold her body to rich men (and, on occasion, women) to start saving money for her and her mother so they could have a better life. Unfortunately, this resulted in her getting pregnant around the age of 11. Her mother was supportive about it and let her keep the child, even helping her raise the baby girl. Another result of her prostitution was contracting HIV. She didn't know she had the virus for years, but the symptoms of AIDS have recently started to show.
It was strange, to say the least, when her mother brought in a blue haired boy who washed up from the ocean. It was even stranger when her mother informed her that the boy was going to be her brother. Although initially opposed to the idea, _____ soon grew to love him as if he was her real brother. female | 5 yrs | adorable | niece | deafOnly being five years old, _____ doesn't remember a time when Kaimu wasn't in her family. He's her uncle, but also the closest thing she has to a father, so she uses both titles interchangeably. She was born deaf, and therefore communicates through sign language (or simply tugging on Kai's shirt and pointing when she wants something). Sometimes she makes sounds, but doesn't know how to speak verbally. She does not completely understand the nature of her mother's sickness and thinks that she'll just get better... eventually.Post here if you're interested in making one of these charas.
It's okay if you change stuff; add me on skype or msn & we'll talk.
Also, I will love you forever if you make them.
