"Kings should not need to work as manual laborers and servants do. This sets them apart from the common man... sets those with royal blood higher on the social scale. Kings are important... they cannot simply be replaced.
That, my son, would lead to chaos."
---
Kåge would be king one day. Unless someone tried assassinating him or he fell ill with some fatal sickness, that much was certain. Why? Because he just happened to pop out of the Queen's uterus first. That's why. He wasn't special. He didn't have the answer to the meaning of life, nor an inhuman intellect. The only difference between him and everyone else was how he was raised. Strange, how the world values class, wealth, and tradition over intelligence, personality, and passion. Maybe he was the strange one for thinking that.
After all, he wasn't exactly a normal prince. Today, for example, he sent home all the servants in his personal mansion on a paid vacation. It wasn't an act of kindness... he just wanted them gone. What did he want... we wanted to exist without expectations. He wanted to be able to break something without getting a "I'll clean this up and get a new one right away, my prince. Would you like some tea?" or a "my prince, you seem stressed. Would you like me to call the school and cancel your projects?" No, that wasn't what he wanted. He wanted people to stop trying to fix him and his mistakes.
Bartholomeus was the only other one left in the house, which now had the warm scent of cooking food wafting through its halls. Servants were supposed to cook, but every once in a while Koji wanted to do it himself. He wasn't a world-class chef or anything, but what he managed to make wasn't bad, and it looked presentable enough when he put it on a plate and carried it up to his and his brother's room. "Mies?" He called as he opened the door and took a step inside, wondering if his brother was even there, "I made dinner if you're hungry."

He remained quiet, as he managed to slip on his overly expensive carpet. He remained quiet when he tried using the bedside table to pull himself up, ending up pulling down the tablecloth as well as an expensive looking glass of water. By now he was used to accidents like this. Accidents that were, luckily, overlooked by everyone in the mansion. Koichi was the prince after all. Well, the "second prince", to be more exact. He had never really paid attention to the whole system, however, he always saw himself as the less important brother. If something happened to him, it wouldn't be that bad. Sweden would still have their king. And it kind of was this attitude of being less important than his brother, that made Koichi the person he was. He loved his brother and he'd do everything for him. He just didn't take himself seriously enough.
His face a bright shade of red, he used his oversized white shirt to rub the water off the carpet, before he realized that there wasn't even anything bad about water, causing him to stop. Then again, he realized that the shards of the glass he broke were indeed...bad.
After he had picked them up and put them in the trash, he sat down on his bed, which was also his brother's. The servants were gone, he knew that. But he still didn't want to leave their room. He did want Koji to come in, but he didn't want to go out and get him. It definitely was a bit confusing. It wasn't out of laziness, it was more something like...expectation. Even if Koichi was a pretty modest person, there were some things he expected. For some reason, his twin was the only person who had to fulfill such expectations.
And this current expectation included Koji coming in. That was all for now. Koichi didn't care about what his brother would do, once he was in yet. Just having him close made the younger twin feel a lot safer than usual.
As the door opened, a slight smile formed on his face, followed by a small chuckle. "H-hey!" Looking at the pancakes on the plate, he nodded. "Y-y-yes. I am p-p-pretty hu-hungry." Needless to say, his brother cooking for him was one of his favourite things.
Patting the free space on the bed next to him, Koichi tilted his head slightly. "I-I'm su-sure it's delicious."
